Little N, it is still not real to me that your FIRST BIRTHDAY is next month! You were the best part of 2012 for your daddy and me. You have been a constant joy and delight since the day you were born!
It was a busy, crazy month. We had many things to prepare and get ready for.
You loved helping us decorate for Christmas.
We worked hard to get our apartment ready for company. =)
You also had a lot of fun preparing your Christmas presents for the grandparents and the auntie and uncles.
For the grandparents, you made thumbprint reindeer ornaments.
And for the auntie and uncles, you made fingerpaint picture frames.
They loved them. =)
You also saw Santa. =)
We celebrated Stewart family Christmas with Grandma’s side of the family, and Grandma made you a beautiful dress that declared your Stewart pride.
You and all the Stewart great-grandkids took a picture with Great-Grandma O.
We welcomed Ama, Papa, and Auntie S for Christmas. The first thing we did with them and the rest of your big family is dedicate you to the Lord at church. Ama and Papa picked out your dedication dress. You looked like you belonged in the film “White Christmas” – the final scene where Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye are dressed up in Santa suits, and Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen are in beautiful Mrs. Claus dresses.
Then we had Christmas Eve. Mommy and Daddy were in the worship band for the Christmas Eve service, and you kept trying to grab your Grandma’s candle. You have no sense of fear, silly girl. =)
Then we headed over to Grandma and Grandpa’s house to open presents. You loved playing with your nativity set with Great-Grandpa H.
Then we headed home to do last minute Christmas prep before the morning.
Christmas morning dawned, and you were still a bit bleary-eyed.
The gift opening commenced and there were smiles all around.
Ama and Auntie S loved the headbands Mommy made for them.
Auntie S was a big fan of the mug that Daddy got her.
Auntie S gave Mommy and Daddy an extremely thoughtful gift.
A gorgeous, hand-embroidered pillow detailing the island of Martha’s Vineyard, where Mommy and Daddy met. We can hardly wait till you are a little older, Little N, and we can point out all our favorites places and tell you stories about how our little family began. Auntie S for the win!
And of course, you loved your big present from Mommy and Daddy.
You have hardly let your big activity cube out of your sight. =)
We took pictures of all of us in our Christmas jammies that we opened on Christmas Eve – the start of a new family tradition. =)
We just relaxed and enjoyed being together all morning. =)
We went to the EMP (Experience Music Project) museum
As well as Snoqualmie Falls.
It was so wonderful to have my family with us for Christmas. It was the best gift I could have asked for. =)
We also celebrated your first New Years yesterday. We went over to Grandma and Grandpa’s for a quiet evening of good food and playing games. You went to bed early and Mommy and Daddy barely made it to midnight before we hit the hay too. You slept in and spent all New Year’s day in the sweet jammies that Grandma made you. =)
A few new things you started doing this month – you started clapping! Everytime you hear someone clap, you clap in response. You also like to point at things now. You point and name things very emphatically, even if you call everything “da” or “dern”. =)
You are also falling in love with books, which makes this book-loving momma VERY happy! You still aren’t content to sit still while a book is read to you, but you will sit quietly for 15-20 minutes and ‘read’ books quietly to yourself. You point at the words on the page and ‘talk’ as if you were reading aloud to yourself. You even turn the books around if they are upside down when you pick them up. You are one smart cookie. =)
What an incredible gift and joy it is to be your Mommy, Little N. Your Daddy and I are so excited for whatever this year has in store for you and our family. We love you, sweet girl!
